Great job last night! Weeknight meets are tough with having been at school all day, so you all did great to go the times that you did. The boys fell short, losing 174-107, but the girls pulled out the win 146-124! Big congratulations to Rebecca Cohen and Morgan Plowman who qualified for state in the 200 IM/100 back and 50 free/100 free respectively!! Great job girls! We had 3 relays just tenths off the state cuts as well. The boys medley relay of Jackson, Joshua, Justin, and Sam was .38 away, the girls 200 free relay of Rebecca C., LE, Sophie, and Morgan was .11 away, and the girls 400 free relay of Morgan, Elly, Rebecca C., and LE was .26 away. I know we’ll get these cuts very soon! We also had the following qualify for county either for the first time or for the first time in a new event: Rebecca Cohen, Elly Gasaway, Erin Kowalsky, LE Laupus, Sophie Laupus, Morgan Plowman, Olivia Weinstein, Kevin Hopper, Jackson Sanders, Malte Stoltefaut, and Joshua Stovall! All results are attached for all to see. The only difference will be if you swam a relay in a different order than what the heat sheet said…look at the times, not the names if you did this.
LEAVING MEET WITH PARENTS:
It is perfectly fine for swimmers to leave the meets with their parents, but I wanted to remind everyone that the swimmer must tell me that they are leaving with their parents. We cannot leave on the bus with a swimmer unaccounted for. If you are taking your child from the meet, please double check with them that they told me. Thanks!
Someone picked up Rees’s fleece by accident, and he has the one that was left (with the tag cut out). His name is on the tag in his, so please check the fleece that you have to see if you have his and you can trade at practice tonight. Thanks!
Our female swimmers of the meet are Rebecca Cohen and Morgan Plowman! We couldn’t choose between them as they both won their 2 individual events and were part of the same relays. Rebecca won the 200 IM and the 100 back and Morgan won the 50 free and 100 free. Both girls would have placed in the top 3 in the boys races in both of their events as well, and Rebecca would have won the boys 200 IM! They both qualified for state in both of their events and helped the relays to a 2nd place (200 free) and 1st place (400 free) finish! Great job girls!
Our male swimmer of the meet is Malte Stoltefaut! I entered Malte in the 500 as he had said he was a distance swimmer when he swam in Germany, but I didn’t know how fast he was going to go. He won the event with a time only 19 seconds off the state cut! This is the first time we’ve had a swimmer go under 6 minutes in 4 years! He also was our second fastest breaststroker and dropped 3 seconds in his 50 breast split on the relay! Great job Malte!
Our biggest loser is Kira Schmidt! Kira went a best time in all of her events! She was a second faster in her 50 free and 2 seconds faster in her 50 free split on the relay! She even bettered her time from the free split on the medley relay to her split on the 200 free relay later in the meet! Great job Kira! With many of these events being the first time we’ve done them this season, we didn’t have as many best times, though they are our starting point to have many best times from now on. Other big losers were Malte mentioned above, and Erin Kowalsky who went career best times in all of her events (200 free, 100 breast, 50 breast split, and 50 free split). Great job!
Our Star Spartan is Audrey LeSage! Audrey tried her best in her events (the 200 and 500 frees), and did these long events with a smile on her face. I know you all are thankful that she actually likes the 500 so you don’t have to do it! She was cheering everyone on throughout the meet and encouraging to all! Great job!
